Two Factor Authentication with iCG
Two-Factor Authentication Process
We understand the importance of safeguarding your business and customer information in today's digital landscape. As part of our commitment to providing you with a secure platform, we are introducing Two-factor authentication (2FA) on 10th June, 2023, to enhance our security measures.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security measure that provides an additional layer of security to protect your account from any unauthorized access. This process uses two different credentials — something you know, like your phone number or password, and a unique verification code.
Why is 2FA Important for Merchants?
2FA is essential for merchants because it provides an additional layer of verification during login. Here’s how it helps:
- Stronger authentication: With 2FA, merchants have to provide two pieces of information — the username and password, and the unique code sent to their phone number. Therefore, even if someone gains access to your password, they won’t manage to access your account without the second factor — the unique code.
- Mitigation of password vulnerabilities: Passwords can be easily compromised through phishing attacks or data breaches. However, with 2FA in place, there’s an added layer of protection that reduces the risks associated with such attacks.
- Peace of mind: Knowing that your account is well protected allows you to focus on your core business activities instead of worrying about potential breaches.
How Does the iCG Two-Factor Authentication Work?
For Existing Users
Once the 2FA is launched, you will be prompted to set up 2FA during the next login. You have the option to skip it, but we strongly recommend you do not skip this setup.
To set up 2FA, follow these steps:
- On the login tab, enter your username and password.
- Add a mobile phone number and click “Continue”
- A code will be sent to your phone.
- Enter the SMS code and login
After setting up, every time you log in, you’ll need to enter the SMS code.
New Users
If you are a new user on the Online Terminal, your 2FA features will be enabled by default.
This is because your phone number was already added when creating the account.
Just like with existing users, you have the option to set up the 2FA.
Since your phone number is already on the profile, you’ll just need the SMS code.
